The Bookery Collective

A Reader’s Retreat

You’re invited to the Moonwisp Collective's premiere retreat: The Bookery Collective!

The Bookery Collective is Moonwisp Collective’s introductory retreat! It is a full-day event, held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 in Carmel, NY. The expected time is from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Detailed information, including location and full itinerary, will be shared with registered guests.

Anyone who enjoys reading books, talking about books, and building community!

Some Bookery Collectives focus on specific genres, authors, or tropes - however, this retreat is geared toward readers of all sorts.

Readers are a diverse group of people! Moonwisp Collective welcomes individuals of all races, colors, religions, abilities, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations and other characteristics that make us all unique. Please note that this event is adults-only, so all participants must be 18+.

Who is it for?

Moonwisp Collective retreats always include themed activities, discussions, community-making, and at least one craft! Welcome gifts, lunch, and light refreshments throughout the day are also to be expected.

The Bookery Collective will include activities such as: Blind Date With A Book, a group discussion on books that are important to you, a book-themed craft, a reader’s game, and more. (Please note that the final itinerary is subject to change dependent upon availability and guest preferences.)

Everyone will leave with at least two books, a welcome gift, and their craft.

We accommodate dietary restrictions with advanced notice.

Please note: there will be photographs taken throughout the day for possible use in marketing materials or on the Moonwisp Collective website.

What should I expect?

Moonwisp requests that all potential guests complete an application form for every event. We use these applications to:

  • Ensure that we are providing a customized experience that is welcoming and engaging

  • Build a guest list that is harmonious and aligned

  • Design activities that will be fun, entertaining, and enriching

  • Cultivate a safe and inclusive environment

There are no right or wrong answers! We’re not grading anyone, or deciding someone isn’t “right” for a Moonwisp retreat. We are simply striving for each event to best serve our guests

We will be reviewing applications as they are received, and will notify all applicants within two weeks of receipt.

If you have any questions before, during, or after you apply, please feel free to email info@moonwisp.org!

How do I attend?

You don’t need to bring anything besides yourself! However, you may find a notebook to be useful.

Lunch and light refreshments will be provided by Moonwisp, but guests are more than welcome to bring personal snacks or non-alcoholic drinks.

Please wear whatever you feel comfortable in! It’s a fun but full day, so all guests should dress in whatever way makes them physically and emotionally comfortable. So if that means a ballgown or a tux, you do you! But sweatpants or leggings are also welcome. Please be aware that there will be photographs taken throughout the day for marketing purposes, as well as for use on the Moonwisp Collective website.

Please note: the Moonwisp Collective does not permit drug usage under any circumstances. Bringing alcohol into the retreat is prohibited.

What do I bring/wear?

As our introductory retreat, The Bookery Collective is free for guests!

Please note that future retreats will be paid events.

How much does it cost?

Everyone is welcome to apply! We expect most applicants to be coming as individuals. However, if you would like to attend the event with friends, everyone in your group must complete an individual application. There is space on the application for additional information - please include your friends’ names there!

We will do our best to accommodate groups, but we do not guarantee participation unless you have booked the Moonwisp Collective to host a private retreat. If you will only attend with a friend, please also include that information.

Moonwisp Collective prioritizes community-building, so we encourage guests to be open to making new friends and connections.

Space is limited, so participation is not guaranteed. We encourage all interested individuals to apply as soon as possible for the best chance of attendance. All applicants will receive an email within two weeks of their application indicating whether or not they have been added to the guest list. (If you have not been selected for this event, we are happy to add you to a wait-list, recommend that you apply for future retreats, or discuss Moonwisp hosting a customized, private retreat!)
