About
In this digital age we’re in, it can be hard to disconnect, to meet people, and to spend time doing things that you enjoy! Moonwisp is focused on authentically building community, with whimsy, fun, learning, and camaraderie.
How? Wow, we’re so glad that you asked! We host retreats (both one-day and multi-day) and smaller events, open to anyone. Our retreats and events always have some sort of theme or shared interest - we’re known for our Bookish Retreats and Sunday Swaps, but we also hold events focused on Witchcraft, Creativity, Crafting, Theatre, and more. People are multi-faceted and we are all so much more than just one thing - we tend to define ourselves by our jobs, or our family roles - but we’re more interested in what makes you you! Our retreats and events are things that we enjoy, and want to share with others. We want to welcome people from all walks of life - regardless of your age, gender, race, religion, sexuality, or ability.
We are staunchly opposed to AI usage in any capacity, and you can trust that none of our materials will be created using AI.
Meet Our Founders
Amber Layne
Amber is a lifelong learner. She lives in a world of stories, curiosity, creativity, and the idea that being authentically yourself is one of the most important things you can learn. She holds a Master's degree in education, but she's never been content to stay in just one lane. Alongside serving as Vice President of the Phoenix Theatre & Arts Company, she's an actor, director, writer, crafter, avid reader, and enthusiastic collector of books. Amber lives in the Hudson Valley with her beloved dog, Murphy, and her partner Taylor, and can usually be found with a project in progress, a book in hand, or an idea she's determined to explore. She believes the point of , well, everything, is to have fun, be a good human, and be good to each other. She's always happiest helping create spaces where people can do exactly that.

Gina Stanton
Gina has always been a dreamer - she believes in art, kindness, creativity, passion, integrity, and whimsy. What sets Gina apart, though, is that she’s also a doer who is almost constantly on the go with one project or another: while she works as a school librarian, she’s also the co-founder and President of the Phoenix Theatre & Arts Company, moonlights occasionally as a pastry chef and once started an online bakery, has a Bachelor’s in Business and a Master’s in Library and Information Science, and has never met a challenge that she didn’t have the audacity to think she could probably overcome. She lives in the Hudson Valley, owns more craft supplies than she’d like to admit, has a frightening large TBR pile, and is an advocate for figuring out who you are and building communities that are kind, thoughtful, and welcoming.
